How To Get Rid of Flying Ants

Most people believe that there is actually a special type of flying ant. The truth however is that only Queen ants can fly and it's only for a short time period when they are about to mate and to when they are looking for a new location to start a colony. This only happens a few times a year and once the Queen has mated with a male, they fall back down to the ground, the Queens wings fall off and the male dies. If you really want to learn how to get rid of flying ants this is the perfect time to locate the queen and destroy her before she gets a chance to lay her eggs.

In most cases when people realize they have an ant problem they don't have the opportunity to easily find the queen ant because once she's lost her wings, she gets deep down into the ant colony to protect her eggs and finding her is almost impossible. By catching and killing the queen in the air while she is mating you are taking a critical step to getting rid of the ants in your home.

Don't just assume that killing all the flying ants in your home will put an end to your problem. Also take a look outside your home for flying ants and do your best to kill all of them. If you are able to exterminate all of the flying ants in and around your home, you are keeping hundreds and potentially thousands of new ants from being hatched.

Once you have killed all of the flying ants you need to locate the colonies and cover them with sugar and boric acid. This will cause the ants to feed on both the sugar and the boric acid, taking it underground into the colony where all of the ants will feed on it and eventually die.

Tip: If you want to learn how to get rid of flying ants and any ants in general you need to kill all of the flying ants while you see them because they don't have wings for long. Once the queen loser her wings, she has already been impregnated and will hatch several more ants very soon
